The Youth Board is a youth-led (18 to 35 years old) organization that works in cooperation with the USBN to provide project-based professional development opportunities for its members and further the goals of the USBN, the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) program, and the UN Operational Strategy on Youth. Young people interested in active participation within UNESCO, sustainable development, bioregional planning, international collaboration, and management are invited to participate.

USBN Youth Spotlights:
This summer, Youth Board members are involved in some very interesting on-the-ground conservation projects! We have highlighted two of them here.
Jenelle Booker
USBN Youth Board Chair, Jenelle Booker, is conducting a Strength Weaknesses Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis of three biosphere regions this summer. She will visit the Champlain-Adirondack Biosphere Region, the Obtawaing Biosphere Region, and the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Region. She will evaluate each biosphere region’s governance structure, management, youth engagement, indigenous engagement, and execution of the four strategic objectives of the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Program. In addition, Jenelle is part of the delegation representing the US at the biennial EuroMAB meeting in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany.
Aidan Lyde
USBN Youth Board Vice Chair, Aidan Lyde, is interning this summer with Denver Water to advance climate adaptation initiatives and strategies. He is working on improving early warning systems, climate-adaptive streamflow forecasting, long-range planning, and regional collaboratives in the South Platte and Colorado River watersheds.
