Fernanda Teixeira
Linear Infrastructure Ecology Advisor
Fernanda advises CLLC’s Linear Infrastructure Ecology Program, helping to guide the integration of effective safeguards to enhance wildlife habitat connectivity and reduce mortality along roads, railways, and other linear infrastructure. Her work focuses on influencing policy frameworks, developing science-based mitigation solutions, and fostering knowledge exchange to advance best practices in linear infrastructure ecology.
With broad experience in ecological research and infrastructure impact mitigation, Fernanda has led and contributed to national and international studies on wildlife mortality, habitat fragmentation, and the effectiveness of mitigation measures. She has also supported the development of evidence-based guidelines and delivered training programs to build capacity in road ecology.
Fernanda co-founded and co-chairs the Latin American and Caribbean Transport Working Group and coordinates the Asian Elephant Transport Working Group, both under the IUCN WCPA Connectivity Conservation Specialist Group. Before joining the Center, she worked as a researcher in universities in Brazil and Canada, publishing influential studies on canopy bridges, wildlife mortality, and mitigation effectiveness.
She lives in southern Brazil and enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her partner, daughter, and friends.
