Melissa Butynski

International Connectivity Project Specialist

As a Project Specialist, Melissa brings together her wildlife biology and project management background to provide research expertise and leadership for projects within the International Connectivity Program. She serves as the coordinator for the IUCN Asian Elephant Transport Working Group and is excited to keep exploring the field of linear infrastructure ecology.

Prior to joining the Center, Melissa worked as a wildlife biologist researching a wide range of species, from black-footed ferrets to Canada lynx. She has also spent significant time in Kenya, where she earned her Master of Project Management degree while assisting a landscape genetics study on the African lion.

When not in the office, Melissa can be found outside skiing, biking, or eating pastries.
