As International Conservation Program Associate, Aaron is supporting the administration and delivery of CLLC’s objectives through institutional, policy, communication, event, fundraising, and executive support. Aaron helps CLLC to fulfill its function as a national NGO Member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and as Secretariat of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas Connectivity Conservation Specialist Group (WCPA-CCSG). He brings over a decade of diverse professional experience from across the field with a background in US and international environmental and natural resource law, policy, and governance, as well as in-depth knowledge of IUCN’s programs, policies, and processes. Prior to joining CLLC, Aaron served as Executive Officer for the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law where he coordinated contributions of over 900 Members, the work of the Steering Committee, and initiatives of ten thematic Specialist Groups. There he continued programs for the progressive development of environmental law, including preparation and dissemination of the 2016 IUCN World Declaration on the Environmental Rule of Law, establishment of the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment (GJIE), facilitating eventual approval of the 2018 Brasilia Declaration of Judges on Water Justice, and organizing contributions toward reaching agreement on a Global Pact for the Environment at the United Nations General Assembly. Additional positions held in the past include Chief Administrative Officer for the International Council of Environmental Law, Executive Assistant for the Elizabeth Haub Foundations for Environmental Law and Policy, and Program Research Coordinator for the IUCN Environmental Law Programme. Aaron also maintains a working relationship with the International Council of Environmental Law as one of its voluntary representatives to the United Nations and as Editor of the publication “International Protection of the Environment: Conservation in Sustainable Development.” In his free time, he enjoys running, camping, skiing, and skateboarding with his two sons.
